Description

My benchmark painting this year. Here we have another scifi painting. I'm also happy to say that it won a cgchoice award on cgtalk... as well as a cggold awd on cghub and a daily deviation on deviantart. So yes, i'm quite happy with this one.

I created it with vue and c4d. Photoshop helped me to bring the necessary details in that the base render did not have. Without to write a book about it here... feel free to check here for more specific details & wallpapers: http://v5.tigaer-design.com/?p=539

good details and lighting.
only critique, there are too many little clouds, it's distracting.

You should be very proud of this piece indeed, very well crafted. Top marks.

I guess big structures are hard to present believeably - it's hard to evoke deep feelings with them, because human brain doesn't have much history sense of this kind of GIGANTIC things. : ) It helps to have natural things on the image for the sake of scale - and for that those clouds are good idea. I like this although it feels quite techical and perfect.

I have a theory here: women won't like scifi, because of this thing - it too often lacks natural elements, things from which feminity somehow resonates - the natural ancient patterns which reside deeply in the core of the natural(ly evolved) objects.

wow, I'm lost for words. This is one of the best sci fi scenes I have seen. Stunning, I think the colours and lighting is what really lends it its atmosphere. The offset of the clouds against the hard lines is my favourite part.

And about the women won't like sci fi comment above, lol. I'm a woman and a big sci fi fan, and I know plenty who are =)

I've missed seeing sci fi paintings around. This one is no short of perfect in my opinion. Olkkonen's theory proved wrong again :p
